(Idealist) Preterism
AKA – Spiritualized Preterism, Mystical Preterism
The general view of “Idealist Preterists” is that while there was primary fulfillment of all prophecy in the events leading up to and including AD70, ultimate fulfillment of these passages is found in Jesus Christ through the many past, present, and future comings of Jesus in the ongoing dealings with God and humanity forevermore. While most Idealist Preterists believe in a simple, practical application of this concept (suggesting that primary fulfillment is completed, but additional practical application continues forever), others hold to a strict view of dual or multiple fulfillments of passages which were already fulfilled at or before AD70, but may also be transposed into future events and may even be repeated over and over again throughout the history of mankind. In this latter interpretation the idea is that the Bible contains truth that is to be applied cyclically throughout all ages in fulfillment of prophetic passages over and over, for all time, or until some future, consumative end. To many, the latter interpretation of “Idealist Preterism” is stricly hyper or abberent within the preterist movement. The former Idealist view is typically held by many within the Full Preterist movement, and the majority of Full Preterists would consider themselves “Idealist” within the scope of the former definition.
