Code of Conduct and Ethics
Honesty and Integrity
Members should deal with peers, leaders, and the PTS organizational structure with honesty, integrity and candor, and should avoid any conduct that could put our members or the society at risk or in questionable standing. Conviction of a crime against persons or property or listing as a registered sex offender are grounds for termination of membership.
Quality of Services
Among many other benefits, membership in PTS entitles members to display the PTS Logo or name among member websites and affiliated ministries, and to hold themselves out to the public as PTS members. This is a valuable benefit, and will continue to have value only if each member exhibits excellence in all dealings with the public, with each other, and the faith.
Appropriate Channels for Criticism and Feedback
Members should conduct themselves as professionals, and should not engage in PUBLIC criticism of fellow members or leaders, or of PTS, but instead should air any issue they might have in the appropriate forum to the PTS Board and leadership.
Complaints About Another Member – PTS does not mediate member to member complaints, but only deals with member to leader complaints. A member who believes that another member has engaged in improper or illegal conduct should, depending on the nature of the conduct, either contact the offending member directly, contact the local Church or ministry of the member in question, or, if the misconduct is sufficiently serious, report it to law enforcement authorities and/or obtain legal representation to pursue redress in the courts. PTS appreciates being advised if a judgment is entered finding that a member engaged in dishonest or illegal conduct, or conduct that could put members or leaders and their reputation, residence, or property at risk.
Providing Feedback to PTS – Member comments and concerns directed to the PTS Board Officers or leadership are welcome and encouraged. We regard your feedback as our best opportunity to improve, and we will respond promptly to all comments, complaints, and requests in a timely manner.
Complaints By Non-Members and Outside Sources - As a matter of responsibility to our society who trust our membership rolls for referrals, we do make an effort to mediate complaints that come to us by non-members and outside sources against members or leaders of the PTS. This process begins with full disclosure regarding the complaint to the member and an opportunity for that member to respond in writing. Members should respond with full information about the complaint within thirty days. Responses will be reviewed by the PTS Board Officers, and further action will be taken as appropriate, along with a response letter to the member and the reporting source.
Dealings With PTS Board Officers
Members are expected to treat the PTS Board Officers respectfully in all interactions. Abusive language, profanity or threats directed towards the leadership or the other members of the organization are unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
Intellectual Property Rights
Members should acknowledge and respect PTS’s intellectual property rights, and use PTS name, logo and copyrighted materials only as authorized by PTS. In particular, the PTS Logo may be displayed only by an active PTS member in good standing. A PTS member may not allow a separately owned or managed business, organization, or society to display the PTS Logo, use PTS copyrighted materials, or enjoy other benefits of membership unless a separate membership is obtained, or approval has been given by the PTS Board Officers. This applies regardless of whether there is any franchise relationship or other business relationship with the member.
Following membership expiration or revocation, PTS logos on websites and/or electronic communications must be removed within 7 business days. All logo use on business cards, brochures, and other promotional materials must cease within 30 days. PTS logos in yellow pages and other subscription ads must be removed at the next renewal following expiration of membership.
All logo use must utilize the current trademarked logo for PTS and follow the PTS Logo Usage Guidelines. Following new logo issuance, members must replace old logos on websites and/or electronic communications upon notification. Business cards and other promotional materials must be corrected at the next printing. Yellow pages and other subscription ads must be corrected at the next renewal following new issue of a logo.
Members Operating Competitive Membership Organizations
PTS welcomes other membership organizations or societies modeled after our own, and recognizes the valuable services and ministry opportunity that many of them provide to their members. Nonetheless, it is inappropriate for those who own or operate such competing member associations or societies to maintain membership in PTS, due to the potential for conflict of interest and misuse of the proprietary information and intellectual property assets that PTS makes available to its members.
Sanctions
Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct and Ethics, if substantiated in the opinion of the PTS Board Officers, will be grounds for immediate revocation of membership.
Mailing List Policy
We take reasonable steps to maintain the security and confidentiality of the personal information that you provide to us in connection with your membership. We regularly communicate with our members by e-mail, newsletter, or journals about membership benefits and other matters of interest to our members. We may also provide law enforcement or judicial authorities with personally identifiable information if we determine, in our reasonable judgement, that such disclosure has been requested appropriately by subpoena or other legal process and that compliance by us is legally required. We do not rent or sell member information to third-party marketing companies, but we do occasionally provide PTS sponsors or others with whom PTS has ongoing relationships with limited access to member e-mail or physical address lists, so that they can offer you products and services that we believe may be relevant and interesting to you as a member of our society or someone interested in joining our membership ranks. Associate members will not have access to our private emailing lists.
